Here you can find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about mitBasic. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, you can contact customer service at mitbasic@mit.dk or by phone at +45 7080 2590.
mitBasic is for those who do not have MitID and therefore cannot receive mail on mit.dk. mitBasic gives you access to digital messages, such as pay slips from your employer.
With mitBasic, your email address is used as your unique ID, allowing your employer to send important messages to you via mitBasic. Make sure to use an email address you will retain access to, such as your personal email rather than your work email.
Be aware that your mitBasic user profile must match the email address you provide to your employer.
If you are over 13 years old, a citizen of Denmark, and have MitID, you cannot use mitBasic. Instead, you must use mit.dk.
The first time you log in to mitBasic, you need to create your own mitBasic account. To do this, click on "Opret konto" (Create account). You will then be asked to enter your email address and choose a password.
To verify the creation of your account and the email used, you will receive a verification code sent to your private email. Enter the code and click "Fortsæt" (Continue) on the website. You can use your preferred authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, or another app with similar functionality. Then, enter the 6-digit code displayed in the chosen authenticator app.
You will also need to specify whether you want to receive notifications when there are new messages for you in mitBasic.
For future logins, you only need to log in with your email address and password. Each time you log in, you will receive a verification code via your authenticator app, which you will be asked to enter for security reasons.
You can use your preferred authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, or any other app with similar functionality. You can download apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or a similar authenticator with the same functionality from the App Store or Google Play, just like you would download any other app.
In mitBasic, you can receive, read, and forward messages from your employer, who sends messages to you through mitBasic.
If you have questions about the messages you receive in mitBasic, you should contact the company that sent you the message.
No, it is free to use mitBasic.
If you have forgotten your password, you should do the following:
- Click on "Glemt adgangskode" (Forgot password) on the front page of mitBasic.
- Enter your e-mail address
- You will now receive an email with a link to reset your password
- Click the link
- Enter your new password
- Then, enter the verification code from your authenticator app and click "update password"
- Go back to the login page and log in
If you have a new email address, it is possible to change your email in mitBasic while still retaining access to your previous messages. Remember to inform your employer of your new email address—otherwise, you will not receive your new messages.
You can change your email address in the following way:
- Click on your profile/your name in the top right corner
- Click on "Account & Notifications"
- Click the "edit" icon
- Click "change e-mail"
- Enter your new e-mail
- Enter your password to update to your new email and click "Continue"
- A verification code will be sent to your new email
- Enter the verification code from your authenticator app and click "Continue"
Please be aware that when you delete your account, your messages will be permanently deleted.
You delete your mitBasic account in the following way:
- Click on your profile/your name in the top right corner
- Click on "Account & Notifications"
- Click on "Delete account" to delete your mitBasic account
